I have spent most of my life searching for “IT,” trying to answer those oh-so-big questions like “Who am I?” and “What am I called to do?” Coming up with answers to these questions, while balancing motherhood, career, friendships, and more can feel impossible.
Do you ever spend so much time taking care of everyone else that you forget to take care of yourself?

Without the time to think about answers to those oh-so-big questions, we find ourselves feeling sad, unworthy, and unloved. I felt that way for years. Fear and self-doubt flourish when we don’t care for our spiritual needs. When life throws us curveballs, we tend to grip the reins even harder, trying to keep control. We let our fear paralyze us and steal our peace.

Do you ever feel like you are barely keeping your head above water?

Stop! Just stop. Stop treading water. Take the Lord’s hand, climb out of the survival mentality, and start thriving! You are not ordinary; you are chosen. I want to encourage you to break out of this earth-curse system and to step into God’s . He will help you ride those waves of circumstance with a smile on your face and joy in your heart.

(link: https://drenda.com/articles/can-you-really-have-peace-yes-you-absolutely-can text: You can have peace) if you can see life through God’s perspective. He has a purpose for your life that includes confidence, prosperity, love, and fulfillment.

The Key to Emotional Freedom

Emotions can be scary things, especially sadness and fear; they make us vulnerable, and that is not a great feeling. Trust me, I’ve been there. Let me tell you something I’ve learned. Usually, the harder we fight it, the further and faster we fall into depression. (link: https://drenda.com/articles/what-is-fear-keeping-you-from-doing text: If we have the courage to face our fears), we open ourselves up to God’s amazing healing, and we come to know the truth: we are God’s beloved, NO MATTER WHAT! God’s love and forgiveness may be hard concepts for you to understand, especially if your parents were not very loving and accepting, but they are God’s free gifts that are available to you.

Emotional wounds are not life sentences. Sadness is not our enemy. It can be a sign telling you there is an area that needs healing. If you let fear steal your joy, how can you give to others? How can you have a peaceful life? How can you have healthy relationships?

(optin: 1)

I want to arm you with tools that will help you receive spiritual healing for your emotional wounds, tools that will help you silence the enemy’s voice that tells you, “You are broken.” God will heal your hurting heart!

Surviving is not God’s plan for you; God will help you win your spiritual battles. He has a purpose for you. He wants you to thrive.

Learning to Forgive Yourself

How can you receive God’s love and all His blessings for your life if you don’t love yourself? I don’t know about you, but sometimes I can be my own worst enemy. For years, I didn’t feel “good enough” if my performance wasn’t perfect. Self-esteem, or lack of, is one of the biggest obstacles I see in women. Their values are tied up in what they do, and what they have or don’t have. They have forgotten who they are in Christ. (link: https://drenda.com/articles/rediscover-yourself-and-start-living-again text: Low self-worth leads to depression, anxiety, addiction, and unhealthy relationships.)

You may have been raised by a mother who had the very same beliefs and feel helpless to undo patterns that have endured for generations. You may feel lost and bound in shame because of past decisions, (link: https://drenda.netviewshop.com/shopDetail/BF1B16 text: like I did years ago.)

How do I turn self-hatred into confident self-worth?

  • Step One: Realize that you can’t fix these things. God is the one who will fix it!
  • Step Two: Give yourself to God, and He will wash away your sin and teach you a new law.
  • Step Three: Sit in His presence. God has so much to tell you.

I “GET IT” and “IT” didn’t come by buying a new cosmetic or purse or hiring a trainer so I could look like a Hollywood star. It came when I received God’s love into the depths of my being, and it saturated my soul. It remains the greatest intimacy I have ever known. And it never stopped! It’s still working in me today.

God wants to bless you with emotional healing and reveal His amazing purpose for your life.

Learning to Forgive Others

How do we forgive what we can’t forget? (link: https://drenda.com/articles/what-to-do-when-you-get-your-feelings-hurt text: What do we do when we get out feelings hurt?)

First, we need to understand that forgiveness is not easy. Anger is usually our first response. Our hot-headed warrior, pride, comes out to defend our honor with guns blazing, but pride and forgiveness cannot coexist because the foundation of forgiveness is humility. I know it takes great courage, strength, and humility to forgive. Many times, I have been humbled by how important forgiveness is.

As my husband, Gary, and I started seeing great fruit in our lives, we were able to pay off debt and buy land to build a house on. Shortly after we began construction on our home, we discovered some of our close friends did not share in this joy with us. They were bothered by our success and had been spreading rumors about us. I had a choice: I could harbor bitterness against my friends, or I could choose to love and forgive them.

Unforgiveness gives the enemy a fast track into your life; we stop the Lord’s blessings when we harbor offenses. Holding on to hurt is the past crippling you in the present!

Our culture encourages us to reach for anger when we are wronged. There are countless movies about revenge and getting even. While I realize that we all experience pain, I want us to stop the cycle of hurt and anger. God tells us to do something totally different: (link: https://drenda.com/articles/forgive-to-forget text: turn the other cheek.)

Realize that people who are quick to anger and have unforgiveness are often people who are hurting. The saying goes, “hurt people, hurt people.” Your forgiveness is a demonstration of God’s forgiveness and unconditional love, and it might just be the thing that will soften a hard heart.

Trading in Negative Thoughts for a Positive Attitude

As your sister in Christ, I want to help you build your self-worth! I want you to feel supported, encouraged, uplifted, and loved. God wants you to prosper, but success depends on your thoughts. This is key! When you learn to think right, you can think your way to success. Right comes from “righteousness.” In other words, it is God’s way of doing something. You can think your way to success in every area of your life, and that is what God wants for you!

The enemy tells us, “No one loves you. Something is wrong with you. You are broken.” I know these lies very well, and burying them doesn’t make them disappear. If your inner voice is a source of judgement, rather than support, you need to retrain your mind and (link: https://drenda.com/content/articles/danger-how-to-keep-toxic-thoughts-from-ruining-your-life text: stop toxic thoughts from ruining your life.) To do this, you need to stop focusing on the struggle and fix your eyes on the promise.

When you put goals in front of you, you can live more deliberately. Ask yourself:

What are three ways I am already blessed?

What do I want my success story to look like?

I know it’s hard to think positive when it feels like you are drowning in failure. In our social media obsessed culture, it is easy to feel unsuccessful and unworthy. The platform is designed to make us compare ourselves to others, but your success will look different than others.

(optin: 2)

You are not broken! There is no such thing as a hopeless situation with God.

Let go of discouragement, pain and hurt; renew your thinking and God will give a fresh vision for your life! God never gives up on you. God has plans for you that you can’t even imagine!

Faith is the Key to Spiritual Healing

It was never God’s intention for us to live in a world filled with pain and suffering. But after the Fall, Adam and Eve stopped reveling in God’s creation and were reduced to merely surviving the day while fighting various thorns and thistles. Everywhere I turn, I see this earth-curse system wreaking havoc. For people who are living in the earth-curse system, their compasses are broken. They have no sense of who they are in Christ, and they rely on the culture to tell them. They reach for Band-Aids for their self-esteem: clothes they can’t afford, invasive cosmetic procedures, and more. Millions of dollars are spent on advertising to tell us how we can look better, feel better, and be better.

Is that new shade of lipstick going to be give you peace? No! It might give you a moment of happiness, but that feeling quickly fades.

(tweet: There is no such thing as a hopeless situation with God.)

Our culture is a false god that makes empty promises to fill the void inside our hearts. Those gimmicks fall short of God’s perfect plan for your life. He is the Master Designer, and He will show you who you are and what your purpose is. (link: /archives/get-your-hopes-up text: Get your hopes up!)

He will fill the void with His eternal love. Isaiah tells us “The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail” (Isaiah 58:11, NIV).

God Has a Purpose for Your Life

Are you stuck in the vicious defeat and repeat cycle?

Are old emotional wounds keeping you from pursuing new dreams?

God will restore your dreams if you dream with Him, not apart from Him.

I want to encourage you to envision a better tomorrow. God wants to help restore your joy. He wants you to prosper in all areas of your life! Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV) tells us “For I know the plans I have for you … plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Is that new shade of lipstick going to be give you peace? No! It might give you a moment of happiness, but that feeling quickly fades.

(link: https://drenda.com/articles/don-t-let-the-enemy-stop-you text: Don’t let the enemy stop you!) I chose to break the vicious defeat and repeat cycle. I chose to replace negative emotions with positive thinking, and my life completely changed! Every time you choose to respond to life’s surprises with an attitude of gratitude, you are one step closer to the Promises of God. Choose to renew your mind and submit your will to God. Your better life is calling. It’s time to move into your destiny!
